our weekend getaway

these are just a few of our pics from our weekend on the water...i don't have the ones actually taken on the water. i'll share those as soon as i get them. for any of you thinking about taking a white water rafting trip but aren't quite sure, do it!

well, since we couldn't make it down over the weekend...

 
i really hated missing one of my favorite holidays of the year so i had make up for it on a wednesday evening...holly and i had a great time with our friends megan and cole...and of course winston made the trip for his very first boating experience.

we stopped off at local burger, a burger joint that has everything on the menu made locally. i had the turkey burger, but you can have pork, deer, and elk. we then made our way to the KU campus to watch mindy walk down the "hill." appearantly this is big tradition, i'm sure steph could fill me in. thankfully she wanted to leave after the walk because it is finally feeling like summer time.

today we went to see mindy graduate from the KU nursing school. just a side story: while we were there a man about 4 rows in front of us had a heart attack and i really thought i was watching someone die right in front of my eyes as a doctor was giving him cpr. after a few minutes he came out of it and began breathing and paramedics were there to take him away. as holly's grandpa said, it was unlucky to have that happen, but you could not have been any luckier to have it happen at a nursing school graduation.

i really do love holding babies...

just not newborn babies. i'm so worried that i'll get them sick or drop them, they are just so tiny and that's what scares me.

nothing better than the ole neighborhood...

As you can see, I've developed a bit of a paunch...



Maggie took me for a walk around the house once, thanks Mags!



But mostly I do a lot of laying around.



The Wilson women got me this snazzy workout gear for Christmas.



It got me excited for a little while but I'm just so darn good at taking naps that it's hard to stay motivated. BUT, I've recently acquired a Speedo (don't worry about the details but here's a shout out to Baxter for the hook-up!) and lake season is just around the corner. Someone work out with me PLEASE!!!

10th inning...

i got back in from my first 10th inning practice, and it went very well. let me tell you that all the way up until my opening statement i was dreading it. after just a few minutes i could tell a serious attitude adjustment, and man was i thankful for that. all day i kept thinking about all the other things i would want to be doing on saturday instead of being on a baseball field with kids that aren't even mine. i thought about the lake, camping, fishing, being in kc with holly's folks, and the list goes on and on. but, when the rubber met the road i just decided that it wasn't about me or even the kids, but it was all about God and relationships that holly and i can develop over the summer. i know many of you that read this blog really do have a lot of stuff going on that would not allow you to be there on saturday's but contribute in other ways behind the scenes. on the other hand i also know many of you have your "reasons" for not participating. some of those "reasons" probably include: i'm so busy during the week i just want saturday to relax or if i had a kid that wanted to play i would coach or get involved, but the best reason is simply that it's just too hot. sorry if i urked any of you out there but i think we can all do better so serve the kingdom of God. on that note, GET INVOLVED...TODAY!
